Offsprings produced from 2nd generation plus trees will show better performance compare to those of non-plus trees and/or first generation plus trees, and therefore, use of them will contribute cost-effective forestry.
Hokkaido Regional Breeding Office are working on selection, propagation and preservation of 2nd generation plus trees in Abies sachalinensis, Larix kaempferi, Larix gmelinii and Picea glehnii in collaboration with Forest Research Institute, Forestry Research Department, Hokkaido Research Organization.
