In the light of the positive outcome of cooperation activities, the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (FFPRI) and the Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF) renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for scientific and technical cooperation on Tuesday, May 15, 2012
FFPRI President Kazuo Suzuki and CAF President Zhang Shougong signed a five-year MOU to enhance the cooperation in forest research between the two institutions. So far they have had a good cooperation in the project entitled “Clarification of influence on Japanese forestry and wood industry by expansion of timber trade in China”. Under the renewed MOU, FFPRI and CAF will continue to seek cooperation in research activities as well as the exchange visits of scientists.
From CAF, Dr. Lu Wenming, International Cooperation Division, Mr. Lu Qi, Institute of Desertification Studies, Dr. Ding Xincui, Bamboo Research and Development Center and Mr. Lu Jun, National Wildlife Research and Development Center, took part in the signing ceremony.
After the ceremony, the CAF delegate visited the tree genetics laboratory and plant molecular biology laboratory to exchange views on tree breeding with FFPRI researchers.
