Department of Wood-Based Materials

The Department of Wood-based Materials aims to further increase the demand for wood-based materials. To this end, in addition to conventional materials including plywood, glued laminated timber, and wooden boards, we are engaged in the development and application of efficient adhesive/manufacturing technologies, and methods for evaluating the strength of materials for novel wood-based materials such as cross-laminated timber (CLT).We also analyze the volatile organic compound (VOC) emission properties of wooden construction materials for addressing indoor air pollution (e.g., sickbuilding syndrome).
