Commentary |
A winter annual, or annual, plant that grows in well-lit areas. The stem has four ridges with downward-facing spines along the ridges, by which it supports itself on other things. While there may appear to be six leaves growing in a circle, there are actually just two leaves, with large stipules attached to the leaves and that come to have the same shape as the leaves. There are small, inconspicuous, yellowish-green flowers. The fruit is conjoined, in pairs, with hook-shaped hairs on the surface which attach to fur. |
