Commentary |
An annual plant commonly found along roadsides and in meadows. The two-fold bracts have a few flowers, but they bloom one by one and wilt in half a day. Two of the three petals are large and conspicuous. Four of the six stamens are conspicuous and yellow, but it is not these stamens that produce pollen, but the two longer but less conspicuous ones. |
