A perennial creeping plant that grows in sunny places. It is often seen on forest edges. The Japanese name comes from the name of the tree peony, which also has temate compound leaves. When the white cross-shaped flowers begin turning into fruit, the flower style become elongated and feather-like. In the Kanto region, there are many Clematis apiifolia var. bitemata with leaves that split into three yet again. |
