Commentary |
The long, slender inflorescence looks like that of Persicaria filiformis in the family Polygonaceae. It is widespread from meadows to bright woodlands, and becomes larger in areas with ample light. The fruit is distinctive in shape, developed in a sepia tube, with hooks around the edge so that it clings to animal fur thus propagates. |
