An evergreen perennial plant that grows in evergreen forests. The leaves are opposite, large, and oval in shape. The flowers are about 4 mm long, whereas the follicle is 13-15 cm long and mango-like the following year. The follicle cleaves in winter and produces a seed with pappi. The seed's long, white pappi inspire the Japanese name ''demoness's hair.'' |
