Commentary |
A small perennial plant that grows in somewhat dry mountain forests. The leaves are usually pentagonal, with a petiole and cluster at the bottom of the stem. It has racemes with white flowerheads. Each flowerhead is composed of three small flowers with a corolla split into five parts. Bonding between cleistogamous flowers is common. Its Japanese name derives from the shape of its leaves and white flowers. |
