A perennial herb that grows in damp, gravelly areas along valleys. The stems grow along the ground. The rhizome is thin and small. The radical leaves have a long petiole, serrated edges and are circular. The leaves on the stem are oblong in shape, and alternate. It has white four-pealed flowers in a cluster at the top of the stem. The bulb, at the base of the petiole, remains throughout the winter. The Japanese name comes from the bulb being similar to a lily bulb. |
