Commentary |
A perennial plant found in the forest. On the Sea of Japan side of Japan, there are Viola vaginata Maxim, which have round leaves, white on the Pacific side, there are Viola bissetii Maxim, which have slender leaves. It is an early bloomer among the violets, and the leaves are still curled up when the flowers begin to bloom. The leaves spread out wide by the end of the flowering season, with the largest ones reaching up to 10 cm in length. |
