Commentary |
A perennial forest plant. In spring, the above-ground portion appears and flowers bloom, which then wither in early summer. The flower stalk has three verticillate leaves, with two flowers blooming from the center of the leaves, giving it its name. However, there may be just one flower, or up to three. Also, even when there are only two flowers, they may bloom at different times, so only one may be blooming, It has a subterranean stem and grows in colonies. |
