Yamahakka

English name

Yamahakka(JPG:169KB)

Scientific name

Isodon inflexus (Tunb.) Kudo

Best season

September, October

Commentary

The leaves are opposite, with wings on the petiole. Small blue-purple flowers are sparsely produced on the tips of branches in long, slender inflorescences. The flowers are lip-shaped, with an uplifted upper lip with four lobes and a navicular lower lip that protrudes forward. The Japanese name includes the ''mint,'' but it has little or no fragrance.
