小井土 賢二（森林総合研究所 木材加工・特性研究領域）

「バイオマスのガス化プロセスにおける燃料混合がガス化反応特性や灰分の溶融性に及ぼす影響に関する研究」がエネルギー分野の進歩に貢献するものとして高く評価されたため。

小規模木質ガス化プロセスの商業運転においては、燃料材の不足が問題となっており、木質資源の安定的確保が課題である。そこで、スギ材に地域バイオマス資源を混合してガス化を行う共ガス化が検討されてきた。しかし、バイオマスの共ガス化では、含有する灰成分によって炭化物の反応が促進され反応速度が大きく変動したり、逆に灰が溶融して固化物（クリンカ）を形成したりする事例が確認されている。これらの課題を解決するために、地域バイオマス資源（草本、果樹剪定枝、キノコ廃菌床）をスギ材と混合し、その混合燃料のガス化効率や、反応速度モデルの構築、灰の溶融性の解析を行い、地域バイオマス資源の最適な混合条件を解明した。これらの成果は、バイオマスエネルギーにおける燃料柔軟性の向上に大きく貢献するものである。
