It was jointly organized by the two Working Parties of the IUFRO: 8.04.07, radioactive contamination of forest ecosystems, and 8.01.02, landscape ecology. Dr. Mariko Inoue, member of IUFRO-J, Tama Forest Science Garden of the Forestry and Forest Product Research Institute (FFPRI) was awarded as a finalist of the "Global Competition on Best Practices in Forest Education among many applications, totaling 71 proposals from 23 countries from all continents. The finalists chosen by "Global Competition on Best Practices in Forest Education" have provided us with some excellent examples of world-class methods and practices in Forest Education across countless schools and institutions. The highly successful Pine Wilt Disease Conference 2016, which was held in Seoul, South Korea, 29 August - 02 September 2016, was mainly organized by Dr. Nakamura-Matori, a IUFRO-J member of the Forestry and Forest Product Research Institute (FFPRI) and the Coordinator of IUFRO 7.02.10 Pine Wilt Disease.
