It was jointly organized by the two Working Parties of the IUFRO: 8.04.07, radioactive contamination of forest ecosystems, and 8.01.02, landscape ecology. In Issue No. 130, Toshiya Matsuura briefly introduces the recent activities of WP 8.01.02, and Shoji Hashimoto, who was the moderator, overviews the webinar. Dr. Mariko Inoue, member of IUFRO-J, Tama Forest Science Garden of the Forestry and Forest Product Research Institute (FFPRI) was awarded as a finalist of the "Global Competition on Best Practices in Forest Education among many applications, totaling 71 proposals from 23 countries from all continents. The finalists chosen by "Global Competition on Best Practices in Forest Education" have provided us with some excellent examples of world-class methods and practices in Forest Education across countless schools and institutions. The highly successful Pine Wilt Disease Conference 2016, which was held in Seoul, South Korea, 29 August - 02 September 2016, was mainly organized by Dr. Nakamura-Matori, a IUFRO-J member of the Forestry and Forest Product Research Institute (FFPRI) and the Coordinator of IUFRO 7.02.10 Pine Wilt Disease. Publication Alert: Special Issue, the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity

This special issue is based on the papers/presentations made during the session which was held by IUFRO Working Party 8.03.07 - gRadioactive contamination of forest ecosystems: from Chernobyl to Fukushimah, during the XXIV IUFRO World Congress in Salt Lake City, USA, from 5-11 October 2014.
